SOMM Detox Day Mini Retreat

May is detox month at SOMM. This means getting conscious about what we consume (media, food, caffeine, other people's energy) and learning not just to let go, but also get intentional about what we put into our body-mind and also "digest" what we no longer need.

This day will have a balance of theory and education, with accessible practices suitable for all levels including fascia and muscle tension release, Yin yoga, functional breath-work, an intro to Qi Gong forms to support digestion, Yoga philosophy, meditation and sound work. A truly delicious and supportive day.

This workshop is included in weekly and monthly Full Access, SOMM 365 & Founding Memberships.Join us for an incredible day together, exploring practices that will support a mental, emotional and physical detoxification and the digestion process. It's also an opportunity to meet some of our newer teachers!

Schedule:

09:30 - 10:00am - Welcome & Karakia As you arrive, take a moment to settle-in with each other and the community with a refreshing (Little Bird) Detox Juice. SOMM Founder Claire Robbie will share a few worlds about the intention of the day and SOMM Teacher Kayla Gordine will share an Opening of Karakia, to align us for the day ahead.

10:15 - 11:30am -Fascia Flush & Flow with Kayla & JoeMind-body and movement experts, Kayla & Joe will lead a talk about this incredibly important part of our bodies - our fascia. Fascia is involved in the body's sense of its position in space, and the sensing of pain and discomfort. It specialises in communication about the body's internal state. Kayla and Joe will lead you through a session focusing on releasing tension and toxins from the physical body, fascia, and a guided meditation for integration.

11:45 - 12:45 - The Vagus Nerve & Digestion with Molly DenlyA functional breathwork session in which our Respiratory Physio Molly, will explain the connection between nervous system regulation and our digestion.

12:45 - 01:30pm - We will share a light, healthful lunch, nourishing snacks and herbal detox teas. Time for chats and to connect with our teachers and community.

01:45 - 03:00pm - Join SOMM Qi Gong teacher Rebekah Dack for a class will explain this gentle form of movement and also focus on Qi Gong Digestive Forms to show you how you can support your digestive system in not only processing food, but what you "consume" energetically, mentally and emotionally.

3:00 - 3:30pm - A pause for a tea and refreshments

3:30 - 4:30pm - Explore Yogic Philosophy and how it can bolster a more aligned life and support us as we make different choices through the Yamas and Niyamas. This session is led by our very experienced yoga teacher Rahle, will give you a wider understanding of these ancient, very practical practices for modern day-to-day life.

4:45 - 5:30pm - Wrap this day with a SOMM-style Guided Meditation with Sound led by Claire & Maryam. Immerse yourself in the different frequencies of the crystal bowls to help integrate and close out this beautiful day. Join us for a journey of detoxification, movement, mindfulness, new learnings and inner renewal.
